Blue Sofa Table Makeover
I love the way it turned out, and I think someone else did too, because it was gone in a couple of days.

A Simple Update
Happy Monday Everyone!
Tomorrow marks one month since we returned from our trip to Africa, and I appologize that I have not written about it yet. It was life changing, and I am still trying to wrap my mind around everything I experienced (which is why I haven't posted anything about it yet.) I promise a post will be coming soon, but today I wanted to share with you a simple update that I gave a tv stand. This was the second piece of furniture that Michael and I purchased as a married couple, and it fit in our first apartment perfectly. Now that we have more space in our house it is a bit small, so I decided to paint it using CeCe Caldwell's Memphis Blue. I love the way it turned out, and so did someone else, because it sold in a matter of days.

Paint Party
We have had one giant paint party around our house lately. There are so many furniture pieces around our house that have been needing a facelift. In efforts to convince our neighbors that we aren't hoarders I have made a commitment to not buy anything new, and only paint what we have. So far it is working and things are slowly cleaning up around here. Today I wanted to share 2 different projects...
First we have a tired dresser that needed a pick me up. The dresser was originally white-ish, so I painted it Cece Caldwell's Nantucket Spray, distressed it with sandpaper and used CCCP Satin Finish to seal it. Can't you tell I love this color? It is the perfect "beachy" color. When I sanded it, a deeper turquoise also came through.
Next, I have a set of bar stools that looked as if someone tried to paint them, but failed miserably. I painted them in CCCP Seattle Mist, dry brushed them with Dover White and sealed them with CCCP Satin Finish. These bar stools have great classic lines, and are the perfect size for a small area.
If you are interested in either of these pieces they are available at the J. Kelly booth at the Antique Market of San Jose. 5107 San Jose Boulevard Jacksonville, FL 32207.
Have a Great Weekend!!

For the Love of Lighting
If you have been following this blog for any amount of time, you know I have a love for lighting, but I am so picky. Remember our infamous dining room chandelier? We went over 6 months with that hideous outdated/broken fixture.
I have been in love with these DeVine balls-- a vine from Thailand that has been formed into a circle and bleached--ever since we found them in Atlanta several months back. Shades of Light sells them for $479!
We bought them with the intention of turning them into light fixtures and selling them at our booth for much less than Shades of Light sells them for. The more I looked at them, the more I wanted to keep one for myself. I had a light fixture I loved in our "round room,"but I knew the DeVine Ball would make that room even more unique and interesting. Here is how we made our own...
We started out with the guts of an old shiny brass light fixture.
One of my favorite things about this light is the shadow that is reflected on the ceiling.
If you are interested in a DeVine light fixture or just buying the ball and making your own light, we have several left. Email me at julianne(at)juliannekelly(dot)com if you are interested.

We started out with the guts of an old shiny brass light fixture.
After wiping it down we applied several coats of Rustoleum Hammered spray paint. I am not a huge fan of the chemicals in spray paint, but this stuff is a miracle worker. It makes old ugly brass look like oil rubbed bronze.
Once it dried Michael attached the lighting to the DeVine ball and we hung it.

Rusted Outdoor Market Recap
I wanted to share some images from the Rusted Outdoor Market that we participated in this past weekend. We had a mass production of chalkboards a few days before, and many of them have been moved over to our booth, and are for sale there.

Chalkboard Love
If you follow me on Instagram, it is no secret that I LOVE chalkboards. I love making them, I love writing on them and I love looking at them. My obsession with chalkboard art began when I helped with a gender reveal party and designed these chalkboards...
I have been asked by several friends to create chalkboard wedding programs, menus and signage and I absolutely love the way they all turned out.

I recently created these little beauties below. I got the frames at a garage sale, cut and painted my chalkboard backing, and then refinished the frames in CeCe Caldwell's Santa Fe Turquoise and Spring Hill Green. I wet distressed the frames and used the aging cream to add some additional depth to the colors. These will be for sale at the Vintage Market at Rusted on Saturday...hope to see you there!

I absolutely love the way this next fame turned out. I also used CCCP to refinish it. I used Destin Gulf Green as my first coat, Smokey Mountain Grey as the second coat and then wet distressed so that both colors show through. I finished it with dark aging wax.

This was one of my first drawings and it is still one of my favorites.
I am now taking limited orders for custom chalkboard art, so if you or anyone you know is looking for something unique to add an their event, wedding or home I's love to help!

Hutch Makeover
I promised on Monday that I would start sharing more furniture makeovers, and I figured I would share the beautiful hutch that holds all of our paint in the booth first.
Michael brought it home as a surprise a little over a month ago, and I knew that it had great potential. I had to look past the metallic silver (yuck) that the previous owner used in an attempt to refinish the piece. I asked Michael "Who in their right mind would paint this hutch silver???" He quickly responded, "If you saw the place I went to pick this up, you would understand that they didn't need a reason to paint it silver." HA.
Last Thursday our CeCe Caldwell's paint arrived, and I began painting at 5:30pm. By 4pm the next day the hutch had been painted, distressed, waxed and put into the booth as our paint display. Now do you see why I love this paint? If I would have sanded, primed and painted this piece with normal latex paint it would have taken me at least 3-4 days and a lot more elbow grease. Instead it took less than 24 hours, and I have that beautiful finish that chalk and clay based paints give. I painted the hutch in CeCe Caldwell's Antique White (the perfect creamy white) and used her clear wax to finish the piece.
So, what do you think? Are there any pieces in your home that could use a quick facelift? If, so stop by our booth at the Antique Market of San Jose and pick up some paint.

We Sell Paint!
Happy Monday Everyone!
It has been quite a while since I have blogged, but things have been busy. If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably been keeping up with what is going on, but for those who don't I thought I would share what has been happing.
Our exciting news is that we now sell CeCe Caldwell's Paint at the J. Kelly booth. You all know how much I LOVE to transform furniture with paint, so it just seems fitting.
This paint is so fantastic, and there are so many reasons why I love it. Instead of writing a short story here are some of my favorite things about it...

| {just a few of the amazing colors via} |
- It is chalk & clay based, which means that it has surperior adhesion and is self priming. If you are anything like me and hate sanding and priming, then this paint is for you.
- It is "naturally green." The paint AND waxes have no VOC's and no chemicals. I am very sensitive to smells, and usually furniture wax gives me a headache. I have not had any headaches since using this product. CeCe Paints and waxes have no chemicals, so you can actually do all of your painting and waxing indoors! A rainy day won't stop you from that paint project that needs to get done.
- You have the option to "wet distress." For those that have never used a chalk/clay based paint before, distressing with sandpaper is a cinch. If you want to avoid all of the dust that sandpaper produces (especially if you are refinishing indoors) then wet distressing is the way to go. CeCe Paint allows you to take a wet rag while the paint is drying and lightly rub off the paint in areas that you want distresses.
- There are TONS of colors. 35 amazing color options to be exact.
- Made in the USA. This product is manufactured and produced in the good ol' USA.
- Easy Clean-up. Warm water and a little soap is all you need to get this paint out of your brushes, and if you are a messy painter like me, off your hands, hair, face, and arms.

Side Note: I mentioned above that the paint has no VOC's or chemicals, and this was a huge bonus for me. With my mom's history with non-smoker's lung cancer she has not been able to do any painting projects with any of the other paint products I have used in the past. CeCe Caldwell's Paint was designed so that people with respitory issues can use it. How exciting is that? I am thrilled to find a paint that my mom can use :)
I am looking forward to revealing some before and after projects done with CeCe Paints. Get ready for some amazing transformations. If you are interested in purchasing the paint go visit our booth at the Antique Market of San Jose located at 1507 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207
We will also be offering paint classes beginning early June. If you are interested leave a comment below, and I will get in touch with you once we have more information available.
