Why I love March 1st

Today is a special day to me for two reasons...
First, it is my sweet momma's birthday!  I am so blessed to have such an amazing mom who is truly my best friend and a great encourager.  The past two and a half years have been hectic and crazy(I think crazy might be an understatement) but I am so thankful for all the special times we have had together.  I think we have both learned the true meaning of relaxation and taking each day as it comes.  Mom, you are such a great role model, and I hope to be just like you when I grow up.  With four children, you have always been so selfless and I admire that so much.  I love you more than you know, and even though you are feeling yucky today I hope you know how grateful I am for you.

I am also grateful that 10 years ago my mom let me skip her birthday dinner to go with friends to the Monster Jam.  I was 14 years old, and had a crush on this super hot guy who happens to be my husband now.  It was that night that Michael "asked me out." (Im laughing right now thinking how old school that sounds.  Now people probably ask if they can make it Facebook official.)  So 10 YEARS AGO we started dating and boy am I glad I went to that Monster Jam.  It has been 10 years full of great memories, vacations, learning and growing together, and I know the next 10 are going to be even better.  I love you Michael Paul Kelly and I love doing life together.  A few old pictures...Ill pull some really old ones out, but none of those are on my computer. :)

Ready, Set, Random

Where has time gone? Is Thanksgiving really next week? I apologize for my lack of posts, but life has been a little bit crazy.  A little bit of good crazy and a little bit of bad crazy.

This is going to be random, but here is a little update on life via my iPhone pictures...

My little Etsy venture has been going well & I made my first sale over a month ago (along with many others since then).  If you are looking for a great christmas gift, or the perfect hostess gift for all those holiday parties head over to J.KellyEvents

We have some new lighting additions in the house.  The Ikea Ottava Pendant has been sitting on our living room floor for about three months and it is now hanging above the sink.  At the amazing price of $29.99 we could not pass it up & it really adds a nice design element to the kitchen.  It has a little bit of a restoration hardware feel.  I am considering putting an eddison bulb in it, but have not gotten around to it yet.

We found this amazing lantern from an antique store just down the road.  Just a little bit of rewiring and it will be good as new.

For a dose of cuteness this little pup is growing wayyyy to fast.  I swore I would never let my dogs get  in bed with me, but she is just the best little snuggle pup.

We've had some beautiful weather, and it was absolutely perfect for the Blue Angels show a few weeks back.

We had our first fire and Bailey was thoroughly amused.  She sat and stared the entire night, and only tried to walk into it a few times once.

We are still getting things put away around here, but I am loving our "new to us" oriental rug.  The round room has proven challenging in finding the perfect furniture layout.  I like everything to be squared and in a round room that is a little difficult.  I am planning on selling the flax colored sofa and replacing it with two chairs and an ottoman.

We have also been extremely busy in the yard.  The guys that pick up our yard trash must think we have a forest in the back yard because this is about the 5th massive pile that we have left them.  We are hoping to do some planting this weekend.  Yay for new bushes and flowers!

I Hope I did not loose too many of you in that random post!  Happy Tuesday!

My Dad & A House Update

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend celebrating their dads.  I have the most amazing dad and I am truly blessed to have such a great example of a husband and father in my life.  He has been a rock for our family during my mom's battle with cancer, and I love him dearly.
{I love you dad}
As far as the house goes, things are coming along.  We have painted everything but the bathrooms, and it looks like a new place.  A fresh coat of paint does wonders and makes it feel so clean even though it is still a mess.  If you are looking for a quick and easy update to a room try a new color.  It can give your space a whole new feel.

A lot of our finishes for the bathrooms and kitchen have been purchased, and are arriving.  Amazon & ebay might be my new best friends.  I never thought I would be so happy about plumbing fixtures, but I'll admit I did a happy dance when our Shaws farm sink arrived.  We are planning to have the bathrooms installed this week...I'm so excited that it is all coming together.

The kitchen floors have been partially laid and the "round room" floors will be next.  I am happy to say that I actually helped with part of these, but my back and legs are paying for it now.  A massage is in my near future. :) Here is a sneak peek...

I promise I will be back soon with more progress...
